Newtown Homicide Under Police Investigation

The police are investigating a shooting incident that took place on April 15th, 2024, at the Newtown Fisheries Complex on St. Kitts.

The incident occurred between 5:30 PM and 6 PM, resulting in the death of one person and leaving another injured.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found Shaquille Chumney, a 31-year-old resident of East Street, Newtown, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead on the spot.

Neal Nicholls, aged 59 and from Gillard Meadows, was also present at the scene and sustained a single gunshot wound to his ankle.

He was later treated and discharged from the Joseph N. France General Hospital. According to preliminary inquiries,

Mr Chumney was attacked and fatally injured by a single-armed perpetrator who fired multiple shots in his direction.

The Crime Scene Unit of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) processed the scene and collected some items of evidential value.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police will keep the public informed as it progresses.
