Officer convicted and a heavy fine imposed on him for cannabis possession

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Kevern Adams, one of the newest members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force was on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 convicted for drug possession with the intent to supply to another.

The 20 year old of Taylor’s Village, St. Kitts was arrested on Sunday, October 5, 2014 after police officers searched the accused and found over 800 grams of marijuana in his possession.

News reaching this publication indicates that Adams was under surveillance from the time of his arrival at the Charlestown pier via ferry from St. Kitts. He was then searched at the Charlestown Police Station where the contraband was found in his possession. It was reported that Adams was unable to provide a satisfactory reason as to why he had the drug on his possession.

On Tuesday, October 7, 2014, Adams was disciplined and his dismissal from the Force was recommended.

At the District ‘C’ Magistrate Court on Wednesday, the police officer who graduated from police training sometime this year and attached to the Beat and Patrol Department in Nevis was convicted and fined $10, 000.00 to be paid in 6 months or in default he would serve three (3) years in prison.
