The Violent Crime Unit (VCU) is investigating a shooting which occurred at the Circus, Basseterre about 11:45 PM on Fruday 3 July 2015, which resulted in one person hospitalised in serious but stable condition.
Initial investigations revealed that Akeem Chumney of Upper West Bourne Street, and a group of young men from the McKnight area were at Fort Street in the vicinity of the Circus. An altercation occurred with other persons, and a number of gun shots were fired. Akeem received gunshot injuries to his left upper portion of his back, and was transported to the hospital in private transportation.
One person is in police custody in relation to this incident.
