One person questioned by police and released in connection with shooting at the office of Hon. Alexis Jeffers

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Nevispages understands that one male was detained by the police yesterday Sunday, March 3, 2013 for questioning in relation to the shooting incident that took place at the office of Hon. Alexis Jeffers at the Nevis Administration Building, Charlestown.

After spending about five hours at the Charlestown Police Station the accused was released. Upon his release he stated on the popular website facebook that he had ‘absolutely nothing to do with the incident’ on Friday night, March 01, 2013.

According to information reaching this publication sometime in the evening on Friday, March 1, 2013 the office of Minister Alexis Jeffers was attacked. Shots were fired through the back window of his office.

It is reported that the Minister who is responsible for Communications, Works and Public Utilities, Posts, Physical Planning, Natural resources, Environment, Agriculture, Lands, Housing and Cooperatives and Fisheries was in a meeting with other colleagues at the time of the incident.

Police officers quickly responded to the matter. No one was injured.

Investigation into this matter continues.
