Operation Bag Pack Underway

Charlestown –Nevis- Mr. Alphonso Henry, Youth Development officer at the Youth and Sports Department in Nevis, on Tuesday 12th July, took time out to explain a new initiative being undertaken by his Department, which is geared towards assisting less fortunate children on the island in their academic pursuits.

Henry appealed to individuals and business owners to assist in providing a bag pack, complete with school supplies, which include pens; exercise books; text books; pencils; rulers; geometry sets and the like.

These will be given to families who have three or more children who are still going to school– be it Primary; Secondary or even Sixth form College.

These must be families who are considered to be in need.

In order to determine the families that can really do with the help, the Youth and Sports Department is liaising with the Social Services Department, in order to get a listing of such families.

Persons who are interested in helping in this regard, can bring such supplies to the Youth and Sports Department, located upstairs the Reliable Motors Complex, before the 5th of August 2016.

Once the bag packs are acquired with the supplies, the families identified will be given the bag packs, complete with the supplies, during the month of August, well ahead of the scheduled start of the new term.

Henry appealed to all persons who can render some form of assistance, to do so urgently.
