Oualie Football Academy Launched

A much more elaborate ceremony was planned, but due to the unavailability of a few key officials from the St. Kitts –Nevis Football Association, the launch was a little more low keyed, but just as significant.

The action took place at the Cotton Ground Playing field, where almost thirty boys and girls, showed up to be part of the official launch of the Oualie Football Academy.
The Academy is the brain child of Mr. Laughton Herbert, former Nevis Footballer and current Manager at the City Drug Store in Charlestown.

He was formerly introduced by his sister, Miss Vera Herbert, who warmly welcomed all present and indicated that the registration is absolutely free and sessions will be held at the Cotton Ground Playing field every Sunday afternoon, starting at 4 pm.

Mr. Herbert for his part indicated that the age range in focus for the boys and girls to attend the Academy, is five to thirteen years.
He stated that he was committed, along with a few voluntary coaches, to not only teach the youngsters the basic skills of the game, but to ensure that if they show the interest, that the intention is for them to go all the way to making it into the teams at the national level.
Also on hand at the launch, was Mr. Brian Dowe, Deputy Director of the Sports Department in Nevis.
