Parliament Dissolved; No Date Set For Elections

Basseterre, St Kitts, May 13, 2020 – Hours before the automatic dissolution of the St Kitts and Nevis National Assembly, Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris said the lawmaking body was dissolved on Tuesday confirming a Face Book report Tuesday night by veteran journalist Erasmus Williams that Harris had an audience with Governor General His Excellency Sir Tapley Seaton early that evening. Dr Harris was accompanied by Attorney General Sen the Hon Vincent Byron Jr.

In his address Wednesday night Harris said he had advised Sir. Tapley Seaton to dissolve the parliament that day.

Harris set no dates for Nomination Day and Election Day.

Parliament was to automatically dissolve on Thursday May 14 and the election must be held within 90 days.
