Patriots Won’t Be In CPL Finals 2016

The SKN Patriots effectively lost any chance of getting into the CPL finals for 2016, which will incidentally be played right in their own front yard, at the Warner Park Cricket stadium, when they were defeated by the St. Lucia Zouks at the Daren Sammy Cricket grounds in St. Lucia on Thursday night.
The Zouks, who also desperately needed a win to stay in the competition, started badly but Captain Daren Sammy entertained the home fans with a blistering 59, which took his team to a competitive 174 in 20 overs.
The SKN Patriots, as they have done in most of their matches, failed to develop any fluency in their chase and eventually succumbed to 139 for 9 when the 20 overs were completed.
Summarized scores: SL Zouks 174 for 9 in 20 overs: Daren Sammy 59; Mike Hussey 26; Johnson Charles 25
Alzarri Joseph 4 for 41 (including a hat trick); Jonathan Carter 2 for 28; Krismar Santokie 2 for 41 and Sheldon Cotterell 1 for 35
SKN Patriots 139 for 9 in 20 overs: Faf du Plessis 48; Jon-Jon Smuts 30; Jonathan Carter 21
Delorn Johnson 3 for 37; Jerome Taylor 2 for 19; Watson, Morkel and Sammy 1 wicket each
SL Zouks won by 35 runs.
