Pedestrian dies one month after being hit by a motor vehicle in Charlestown

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- This media house has learnt that the traffic accident that occurred on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 on Main Street Charlestown, in the vicinity of the High Court Building, involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian has resulted in a death.

It was reported that the pedestrian, Harvey Pedlar who was struck by a Toyota car PA 8101 allegedly driven by Leon Thompson of Stoney Grove succumbed to his injuries over the weekend in Canada.

As a result of this death, Thompson was taken into police custody. He was later charged with causing death due to reckless driving in a public place.

Thompson appeared in Court yesterday Tuesday, December 3, 2013 represented by Attorney, Ricaldo Caines.

Caines sought an application for bail for his client which was granted by Her Honor, Magistrate Yasmine Clarke.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Stehphen Hector did not object to bail as he believes the matter would take some time to proceed because of the nature of the case.
