PENNYLESS ALL STARS LOCAL T-20 CHAMPS

Thursday 17th March saw a fair sized crowd at the ET Willet Park, anxious to witness the grand finals of the local T-20 tournament hosted by the Youth and Sports Department and sponsored by the Development Bank of St.Kitts and Nevis.

It was Pennyless All stars versus the Empire Cricket club

All Stars won the toss and batted first and were immediately placed on the ropes by a superb opening burst of seam bowling by Charles YELLOWMAN Hendrickson and Adelvin Phillip.

The early wickets of openers Ross Powell and Saeed Williams, was followed by the shocking dismissal of Tonito Willet, bowled neck and crop by Adelvin Phillip in the fourth over.

Thereafter, only a cameo of 30 runs by Akito Willet showed any real resistance and eventually the All stars team was able to muster a more competitive 98 all out, after the shaky start.

Empire started enterprisingly and at one point was going along smoothly on 20 for 1 but tight bowling by the combination of bowlers used by Tonito Willet soon forced panic to set in and the procession back to the pavilion, was fairly frequent.

Empire bowled out for a paltry 71, to gift All stars the trophy, monetary rewards and bragging rights.

As the Pennyless All stars men posed for an after match photo, there were shouts of ‘they can’t beat we’ and ‘this one for Philo!’
