Pink Lily’s “Celebrate Life” was a major attraction

(PINNEYS BEACH, Nevis, April 22, 2013) Scores of persons drawn from all walks of life patronized the classic Pink Lily Cancer Care presentation, “Celebrate Life” held at the ultra modern state of the art Nevis Performing Arts Centre (NEPAC).

Those who patronized “Celebrate Life” were refreshed by eminent poets, models, dancers and children models. The event started promptly at 6.30 p.m and ended at 9.15 pm. Patrons were impressed at the way Pink Lily volunteers kept time as they had promised when they promoted the event.

The objective of the event was to celebrate Pink Lily’s 5th birthday. It was refreshing to hear Clayton Huggins recite “Once When We Were young” and Vanessa Taveras, a cancer survivor created a sober mood as she sang “I Look To You”. A tantalizing yet therapeutic Tango dance “Milonga Triste” was performed by Rosie Borg and Dr Claudio Cortes a professor at Medical University of the Americas (MUA) who is from Chile. They also performed “Lo Que Vendra” Vanelle Powell’s rich and strong voice echoed “The Battle Is Not Yours”. Kimone Moving’s song “One Moment in Time” created a healing mood and refreshed the audience.

A “Fun” segment by children – Khaina, Nykeisha, Lucia, Taina and Sharinique. The children’s “Fun” segment was followed immediately after by “Still Rise” sang by Regional Gospel artiste Carmella Lawrence. She also performed, “The One and only.” Levi James sang, “I Believe I Can Fly.”

DebonayR ‘s as usual thrilled the audience with the song, “Stronger” while Vanesa Webbe recited “Cancer is So Limited”. Her poem stressed how cancer is limited as it does not touch the soul.

“Cancer, You Monster” a classic poem that depicted cancer as a monster was performed by Garcia Hendrickson who used props to take her message across. Lydia Claxton, a breast cancer survivor told the audience how she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and how she successfully went through treatment and how faith in God and courage had seen her through.

A monologue by Shauna Fergus had a strong cancer message.

“God Will Never” recited by Judith Matthew was a poem that told those affected by cancer that cancer cannot affect the love God has for them. “I am Blessed” was a poetic presentation by Jessica Bardales-Essien, Josselyne Essien, Jonathan Essien and Tarana anadkat. James Galloway used his unique poetic skills to bring his cancer message across.

Fun and Fashion session was tantalizing. Models Faith, Tricilla, Adrian, Shelma , Shezanne, Sheba and Shelisia modeled Riff-Raff-Designs and Empress Yejide njambi(Njambi D-Zines).
