PLP In Unity Hosts Annual Good Friday Kite Flying Competition In Belle Vue

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 18, 2016 (SKNIS): The People’s Labour Party in Team Unity is hosting the Annual Kite Flying Competition in Belle Vue on Good Friday, March 25, 2016, starting at 11am.

The Competition was introduced to help revive the cultural pastime of kite flying on Good Friday. This year’s participants will be competing in 5 categories inter-alia – Highest Kite, Most Colourful Kite on display, Biggest Kite on display, the Oldest Participant and the Youngest Participant in the competition. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in each of the five categories.

This year, the winner of the Biggest Kite category will take home EC$750.00.

Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for St. Christopher 7, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, said that he was happy to be able to continue the competition for yet another year. He thanked members of the organizing committee and sponsors for their support and partnership in the Annual Kite Flying Competition.

“We intend to make Good Friday a family day and we have a variety of other events such as cricket, dominoes, draft and bouncing castles to ensure that everyone will have something to do,” Prime Minister Harris said.
