PM Douglas to meet with nationals in the British and United States Virgin Islands

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 6TH 2014 (CUOPM) – Nationals of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis living in the British Virgin Islands and the United States Virgin Islands get an opportunity this weekend to hear first-hand from St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

Dr. Douglas is in the British Virgin Islands attending Creating Climate Wealth Summit on Necker Island & Moskito Island, home of Sir Richard Branson, with pioneering leaders in the Caribbean nations and the best finance institutions and top-tier renewable energy providers.

He will meet with nationals in the BVI at Maria’s By the Sea on Friday 7th February 2014.
On Saturday 8th February, Prime Minister Douglas will meet with nationals on St. Croix, in the United States Virgin Islands at the University of the Virgin Islands Campus and on Sunday 9th February for nationals in St. Thomas at Victor’s Hideout.
Prime Minister Douglas is expected to update nationals on the impact of the international economic and financial crisis on the local economy, highlight the challenges faced and the decisions taken to reduce the national debt which has resulted in the country achieving a 1.7 percent economic growth in 2013 and a projected growth of over 3 percent in 2014.
The St. Kitts and Nevis leader will also discuss the achievements in tourism, healthcare, public utilities, agriculture, housing, manufacturing, sports, culture and social development.
During the meetings Prime Minister Douglas will be accompanied by the youthful St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party candidates in the persons of Dr. Norgen Wilson, Dr. Terrance Drew, Dr. Vance Gilbert and Mr. Konris Maynard.
