BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS – As families across St. Kitts and Nevis continue to feel the effects of a challenging global economic environment, including rising costs and pressures on household budgets, the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP)-led Government continues to provide practical support to help ease the burden on people and their families.

“As part of the 40th Anniversary of Independence Reset, this Labour administration helped thousands of people reconnect their electricity and water, restoring access to these essential services.

“We provided relief when families needed it then, and once again, we are stepping forward with new measures to help those who have fallen behind get reconnected and back on track,” Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance M. Drew said Thursday.

He announced that, through SKELEC’s Reconnect 15 promotion and the Water Services Department’s reconnection programme, more flexible and manageable options are being made available to help households restore their essential services.

“We encourage everyone who benefits from these measures to play their part, honour their obligations and do their best to remain connected,” Dr Drew said.

“This is about understanding the realities people face and providing a helping hand when it is needed, while protecting the sustainability of these essential services for everyone,” he pointed out.

He promised that his SKNLP-led Government will continue to ease the burden on families, deliver progress and put people first.
