PM Drew: “His Legacy Will Live on In the Work We Continue Across CARICOM

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr Terrance M. Drew, on Tuesday, joined regional leaders in paying final respects at the State Funeral of former President of Suriname, Chandrika Prasad Santokhi.

Dr Drew, who currently serves as Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), led the CARICOM delegation at the ceremony honouring the late Surinamese leader.

“President Santokhi was a true Caribbean statesman who believed deeply in Caribbean unity, cooperation, and the power of our region to move forward together,” Prime Minister Drew said.

“His leadership brought fresh ideas, strengthened partnerships, and reminded us that our diversity is our strength,” he added.

Prime Minister Drew also extended condolences to the family of the late president and the people of Suriname.

“I extend heartfelt condolences to his family and to the people of Suriname. His legacy will live on in the work we continue across CARICOM and in the bonds we share as a Caribbean family,” Dr. Drew said.
