Mr. Macron won 66 percent of the votes that were cast.

Prime Minister Harris’ congratulatory message reads:

“Dear President-elect,

Congratulations on an impressive victory at the polls on Sunday, 7th May 2017 when your ‘En Marche’ movement was successful in clinching leadership – defying the odds and gaining ascendancy over France’s conventional parties.

The Government and people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis join me in welcoming you to the helm of your great country, with which we share not only a rich history and heritage, but also common values of democracy, good governance and respect for rule of law.

In choosing you, the people of France have chosen the path of change, openness and optimism, and they have strongly expressed their faith in progress and in the future.

As a leader of a new and young movement myself, I followed with keen interest your campaign as you fought for integration and togetherness among your people, Europe and the wider world.  You understand clearly that we are indeed better together, and your theme of unity resonates well with the Government of National Unity of St. Kitts and Nevis. I wish you every success as you “work to recreate the link between Europe and its peoples, between Europe and citizens.”

Your resounding win in the elections is indicative of the very large majority of the French citizens who share your vision for the Republic.  I am confident that your strong advocacy for a progressive Europe – and for safeguarding the interests of its diverse citizenry – will be a keystone that you will carry into your presidency.

I know that cooperation between my Government and France will continue in the same spirit of goodwill and respect, and I want to assure you of St. Kitts and Nevis’ commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship and trust between us.

Please accept, Mr. President-elect, the expression of my highest regards.”

President-elect Macron will be sworn in as France’s next president on Sunday, 14th May, 2017.
