Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 30, 2016 (SKNIS): The Pirate’s Nest Hotel and Condominium development at Frigate Bay encapsulates the spirit of government’s policy to attract more stay-over visitors, transform the landscape, generate employment opportunities for locals and attract direct foreign investment. “St. Kitts is a very nice place and has very beautiful view,” a woman of Chinese descent said while touring Pirate’s Nest at Frigate Bay. The woman, who was accompanied by her son, explained that she purchased one of the villas at the development, which will feature 284 rooms when completed in the first quarter of 2018. Pirate’s Nest is an approved real estate project under the Citizenship by Investment Programme and the woman said “the policy of immigration is very attractive.”
Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, and Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Lindsay Grant, met the investor on Tuesday (March 29) after completing a tour of Pirate’s Nest where they were updated on the ongoing construction progress.
Prime Minister Harris said the development was a sign of investor confidence in the economy.
“We are seeing here the T-Loft project advancing and at a substantial stage of the completion of phase one,” he said. “I gather that when this facility is completed, we will add another 200 plus rooms to the hotel stock so this is a substantial investment and a substantial vote of confidence.”
Dr. Harris praised the efforts of Minister Grant and his staff for the hardwork in shaping and promoting the tourism brand.
“The national public would be aware that we have made tremendous strides in cruise-based tourism,” Prime Minister Harris said, “and we are working to ensure that as the cruise numbers pick up we also provide an experience where more cruise passengers would want to come back now to enjoy overnight stays in St. Kitts and Nevis.”
Dr. Harris also mentioned the employment opportunities to be generated by the multimillion project that will feature a Radisson Hotel and said he was pleased to learn that locals will be given preference.
T-Loft’s Business Development Manager, Harris Ho, thanked the government for its support and promised that the development will enhance the local tourism product.
