PM Harris woos Asian investors in Singapore before travelling to Hong Kong

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 27, 2015 (SKNIS)–Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, wrapped up fruitful meetings with Asian investors in Singapore where he attended the Citizenship by Investment and International Residence Summit: Asia, held from October 26-27 at the Raffles Hotel. Dr. Harris, along with his entourage, which comprises of Attorney General, Honourable Vincent Byron, and High Commissioner, His Excellency Kevin Isaac, will make their next stop in Hong Kong where they will similarly engage investors in that Asian country to woo them to invest in St. Kitts and Nevis.

At a breakfast meeting on his last day in Singapore, Prime Minister Harris marketed the opportunities that St. Kitts and Nevis has to offer for international and local businesses either acting individually or jointly. The Prime Minister engaged the interest of business persons who have already visited St. Kitts and Nevis and who are now eager to enter into negotiations about future investment opportunities in real estate, hotel, villa and condominium development, as well as financial services.

Prime Minister Harris also spoke to a group which is desirous of exploring opportunities for investment in private air charter services. Having listened to the prime minister’s vision about the opportunities and future prospects for investors expressed in his presentation at the Summit, the business audience grew eager to explore the possibilities of developing such a commercial venture as well as to learn more about the role they could play in the Government’s plans for commercial agriculture development on the islands to meet local consumption and hotel needs.

Prime Minister Harris thanked the business community for its interest in investing in St. Kitts and Nevis and also complimented the local entrepreneurs and developers who were in Singapore to promote investment in the Federation. Such local entrepreneurs and developers include Kittitian Hill, Range Development and local attorneys such as Steven Claxton and Mrs. Kerryanne Morton-Amritt who travelled from St. Kitts and Nevis to participate in the Asia Citizenship by Investment and International Residence Summit in Singapore.

“I am heartened by their presence at this Summit. It speaks to their commitment to our remarkable product and to the Federation as well as to their continued confidence in my Team Unity Administration’s recalibration and strengthening of the programme,” Prime Minister Harris said.

While in Singapore, Prime Minister Harris also attended a reception held in his honour, which was attended by over seventy prominent Asian entrepreneurs, including senior bank officials, media representatives and other industry executives.
As part of the continued efforts to promote the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Programme, Prime Minister Harris fielded several questions from various Asian media outlets with outreach in the Asia- Pacific region. He spoke in depth about the reforms undertaken in the programme and of the opportunities available for growth, development and partnership with the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
