Police Investigating Burglaries in Nevis

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 15, 2016 (RSCNPF): The Criminal Investigations Department of Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is investigating two incidents of burglary that occurred in the Cades Bay area of Nevis.

Investigations revealed in the first instance, that the residents secured their home at about 10.00pm on Wednesday night (January13) and went to bed. When they awoke at about 08:30 am on Thursday (January 14) they found the house broken into. The burglars stole stole $650 Euros, $1734 .00 U.S currency and 230 pounds sterling. The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit .Investigations into this matter is ongoing.

In the second incident, investigations have revealed that a residence in the same general area was broken into by three (3) armed masked assailants dressed in dark clothing. The residents reported that they had retired for bed around midnight on Thursday (January 14) and were later awakened by the assailants. The intruders demanded money from the residents. The intruders took a large amount of cash from the premises.

The scene was processed by the Forensics Services Unit and officer’s from the Criminal Investigations Department conducted house to house inquiries in the area

“We encourage residents to ensure that all doors, windows and gates to their properties are secured when leaving or retiring for the evening,” said a CID investigator. He added,”ensure all locks are in good working order and replace those that are not, if you have deadbolts on the doors, ensure they are engaged, touch every door and window to ensure they are locked, make your property difficult to break.,..that can be a deterrent,. burglars don’t like a challenge to get in, ” he stressed.
