Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 29, 2018 – A report that police are investigating the suspected embezzlement of nearly EC$100,000 from a department within the Ministry of National Security.
Sources said vouchers or some form of documentation have been issued by a female employee attached to the department in the Ministry of National Security to a male individual who collected the money on her behalf from the Treasury in Basseterre.
It was not known if the male person is also an employee of the same department or works into another government office.
According to sources the stealing of the public funds began in June mid 2015 and continued until August or September of 2018.
It was not immediately known how the scam was discovered but information is that the investigation has begun and could lead to the arrest of both individuals.
