Police Investigating Late Night Shooting

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 30, 2015 (RSCNPF): The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) is currently investigating the shooting death of Kirstein “Ekco” Carey, a 20 year old male from Nevis, who resides in Newtown.

According to reports, “officers of the Violent Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department are investigating the shooting of Carey.” The shooting occurred at 10.00 p.m along King Street in Basseterre.

The victim was attacked by an unknown assailant who discharged a firearm at the him, striking him multiple times. The victim died at the scene.

In an appeal for assistance from the Public, Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Criminal Investigations Mr. Ian Queeley said, “We urge anyone who may have seen any activity in the areas of and around King Street on Sunday night that could be of assistance to the investigators to contact the Police, your information can be critical to this investigation. Persons with information that can assist the police in this crime, or any other crime can call any Police Station in the federation or Crime Stoppers, our confidential hotline, at 1-800-8477 to share information,” stressed ACP Queeley.
