Police Investigating Officers Involved In Recent Shooting Incidents

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 28, 2016 (RSCNPF): The Violent Crime Unit (VCU) of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is currently investigating two shooting incidents involving our officers which occurred on Thursday June 23, 2016 in Basseterre and Monday June 27, 2016 at Frigate Bay respectively.

With regards to the incident which took place on Thursday 23 June in Basseterre, the matter has been referred to the Office of Professional Standards (OPS) and the injured officer is presently receiving further medical treatment overseas.

With regards to the incident which took place on the Monday June 27, this incident has also been referred to the OPS and the two individuals who were injured are both in a stable condition in hospital and are receiving treatment.

We want to reassure the public that we will follow the procedures to the highest standard and will keep them informed of any developments as they occur.

We welcome any witnesses to either of these events to come forward and will wait for all of the investigations to conclude before determining the facts of both cases.
