Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 22, 2016 (RSCNPF): The Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) is investigating a shooting incident on Upper Thibou Avenue that has resulted in resulted the death of two persons and injuries to three others.
The shooting occurred at around 8.30pm on Thursday (July 21).
Initial investigations revealed that a group of persons were in the area (Upper Thibou Avenue), when an unknown assailant(s) opened fire on the group. One person was pronounced dead on the scene and the other fatality died while undergoing treatment. Three other persons were treated at the Joseph N. France General Hospital.
Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department and technicians from the Forensics Services Unit have canvassed the scene for evidence.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Andre Mitchell echoed a call for the public to assist the Police in the fight against crime by providing information on this crime or any criminal activity they may be aware of. ACP Mitchell encouraged citizens to call any Police Station or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS) with the information.
