Portrait of Malcolm Guishard Unveiled

Church Ground, Nevis – A brief but impressive ceremony was held at the top of Church Ground, on the evening of Thursday 13th June. It involved the unveiling of a portrait of the late Hon. Malcolm Guishard.

It was part of the special week of activities, which was organized by the Church Ground community to memorialize the late, beloved parliamentarian, who previously represented the St. John’s community.

The ceremony was ably chaired by Mrs. Wanda Parry-France and offering words of commendation was the Hon. Eric Evelyn, who opined that the late Minister of Government ‘has left a legacy and due to that legacy, the Concerned Citizens Movement is the best party for the island of Nevis.’

Ms. Shana Howell also made a brief presentation, expressing gratitude for what Mr. Guishard would have accomplished for her community.

The portrait was then unveiled by one of the grandsons of the late Minister, with assistance, to loud cheers.

Prior to the unveiling, a health lecture was held under a tent nearby, which featured Senior Health Educator at the Health promotions Unit, Miss Shevone Nisbett who focused on Non communicable diseases and produced some startling figures for Nevis:
Diabetes-473 recorded patients
Hypertension 522 patients
65% of the Nevisian population is overweight or obese!

Also making remarks, was the Premier of Nevis and Area Representative, Hon. Mark Brantley.  Included in the fair gathering were: Her Honour, Mrs. Hyleta Liburd-Deputy Governor General and Mr. Liburd; Hon. Spencer Brand and Mrs. Brand and the Hon. Eric Evelyn.
