Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 12, 2015 (SKNIS)—Last week, the formal meeting of the Cabinet took place on Friday, October 09, 2015, with a continuation on Monday, October 12, 2015. The meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris.
1. Cabinet discussed plans for the revitalizing of the Basseterre City Centre and Urban Renewal.
2. Cabinet discussed medium term framework with respect to fiscal planning for the period 2016-2018. High Level Officers from the Ministry of Finance engaged and advised the Cabinet on the fiscal framework and the strategic plans to keep within the policy guidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
3. The continuation of Cabinet on October 12 saw many submissions approved for giving effect to concessions for several and various small business enterprises. Concessions were granted in areas of landscaping, wearing apparel and restaurants, as well as larger development projects such as condominium development. Government incentives to assist entrepreneurs ties in with the fact that over 300 new businesses have come on stream to date in the Federation.
