Post Cabinet Briefing for July 30, 2018

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 31, 2018 (SKNIS): The formal meeting of the Cabinet took place on Monday, July 30, 2018. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris. Here are the salient matters that were discussed and the decisions taken that are designed to advance the growth and development of the country:

Cabinet considered certain matters to alleviate burdens for citizens. The social intervention programme was discussed and the modalities were fine-tuned so that the programme can be initiated with minimum delay.
Cabinet considered the dichotomy of nurses’ status, salaries and qualifications, and further in depth analysis will be done to bring equity within the system.
Cabinet discussed actively pursuing further airlift out of North America and is in discussions with two additional air carriers.
Cabinet was informed that the Water Services Department has fulfilled its obligation to BEAD (Water utility company) so that within two weeks the testing should be completed and an extra 1.2 million gallons of water should be available in the system within the next two months
