Post Cabinet Briefing for March 25, 2019

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 29, 2019 (SKNIS): The formal meeting of the Cabinet took place on Monday, March 25, 2019. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris. Here are the salient matters that were discussed, and the decisions taken that are designed to advance the growth and development of the country:
Cabinet dealt mainly with matters of National Security.
Cabinet was briefed by the Honourable Attorney General on matters which were before the court. Considering the judgment handed down, the Honourable Attorney General is expected to recommend an amendment to the 2014 Public Service Regulations made under the 2011 Public Service Act to bring them in line with the Constitution. The ruling exposed the deficiencies within the regulations and because the Rule of Law is respected by the Government, Cabinet agreed to have the realignment done at the earliest possible opportunity.
Cabinet approved submissions to further empower local entrepreneurs and to assist development projects to come to fruition.
Cabinet congratulated the Ocean Terrace Inn on its 50th Anniversary celebrations.
