BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS — Two local breast cancer support organisations have received a combined total of EC$15,000 to assist individuals undergoing cancer treatment.
Prime Minister the Hon. Dr Terrance M. Drew on Tuesday presented the cheques to representatives of the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation and the Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Support Group during a brief but meaningful ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The contributions were made possible through proceeds from the annual Prime Minister’s New Year’s Gala, underscoring the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Government’s ongoing commitment to healthcare, compassion, and community support.
According to a release from the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service (SKNIS), the funds will help cover the cost of mammograms, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other essential support services for women and men battling breast cancer.
During the presentation, Prime Minister Drew expressed his appreciation for the work of both organisations in raising awareness and providing critical care and emotional support to patients and their families.
He emphasized that strong partnerships between government and community groups are vital to strengthening the Federation’s public health response and ensuring that no one faces cancer alone.
