Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 12, 2016 (SKNIS): Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy has told investors in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), that St. Kitts and Nevis has the oldest and best Citizenship-by-Investment (CBI) Programme in the world that offers the greatest opportunities for investment.
In a keynote address at the Investment Immigration Summit MENA (Middle East North Africa) at the Shangri-La Hotel earlier this week, Prime Minister Harris outlined that the St. Kitts and Nevis CBI Programme has been tested and tried but is still the best option for a second citizenship.
The three-day summit held from March 8-10 was focussed on educating the participants about the strengths, changes and forthcoming plans of the various CBI programmes available to clients.
“We (St. Kitts and Nevis) have had some challenges but we have made significant changes and now we are stronger and better because of those changes. St. Kitts and Nevis has been tested, we have been scrutinized but we are definitely still the best option for CBI opportunity,” Dr. Harris said to agents, investors, government ministers and developers from several countries, including Cyprus, Grenada, Dominica, Jordan, Malta and St. Lucia who were equally making their case as to why their country has a good CBI programme.
Prime Minister Harris convincingly argued that St. Kitts and Nevis has the strongest brand in the CBI industry because the programme has been around for 32 years and that reforms such as a shortened time for approval of new CBI applications within 75 to 90 days make the programme attractive.
In a panel discussion, Cabinet Secretary Mrs. Josephine Huggins, who accompanied the prime minister to Dubai, gave key updates on the federation’s CBI programme by highlighting that Syrians were now again eligible to apply for St. Kitts and Nevis citizenship after a period of suspension. Mrs. Huggins further expounded on the positive reforms and initiatives of the CBI Unit in a Question and Answer (Q&A) session.
With just over one year after the change of government leadership, Prime Minister Harris said that the CBI programme has been rescued from the valley of dry bones and is once again showing a lot of promise as evidenced by the interest of the people attending the Investment Immigration Summit MENA in Dubai.
