Charlestown-Nevis-Following up on his dynamic performance in 2018, when he thrilled audiences in Nevis, as part of the Gospel extravaganza, hosted by the Department of Community Development, Dr. Calvin Wilby, aka PRODIGAL SON, returned to Nevis, on Monday 1st April.
It was not an all fool’s day joke, as the internationally renowned artiste, was live and in living colours, as he met officially with Minister of Social Development, Hon. Eric Evelyn, at the conference room of the Administration building in Charlestown.
He was formally introduced by Director of the Community Development Department, Mrs. Janet Meloney, who was instrumental in ensuring his return.
She pointed out that he would be the main facilitator in a Character building workshop, which commenced on Monday 1st April, at the Disaster Management office conference room at Long Point and is set to culminate on the evening of Thursday 4th April, at the same venue.
Mrs. Melony indicated that during his last visit, the renowned singer, spoke to a cross section of youths on the island and his motivational talk was so inspiring, that many wanted him to return and hence the reason for his current visit.
Hon/ Eric Evelyn, warmly welcomed the PRODIGAL SON to Nevis and noted that he and his Ministry were happy to endorse the initiative, as he is very concerned about the upsurge in criminal activity in the federation.
He stated that the singer would be interacting with primary and secondary schoolers and will also move across the island to various community centers, where he will also address ‘at risk youths.’
He indicated that out of the sessions, he expects that Nevis will soon enjoy ‘a culture of peace.’
The PRODIGAL SON for his part, thanked the Ministry for accommodating him and thanked Mrs. Meloney for initiating the process.
He stated that he was excited and overjoyed to be able to speak to the youths of Nevis, noting that ‘I have been there and done that and would be able to share of my experiences with them.’
He indicated that during the workshops, he intend to be ‘straight up and real’ with the young people, as in most cases, they want better for their lives but don’t know how to go about it.
Later today, Tuesday 2nd April, the PRODIGAL SON is expected to meet with some of the at risk youths at the Hard Times community center, otherwise known as the Corn Mill.
