Public Library Summer Program Concludes

Charlestown- Nevis – The 33rd summer environmental program, hosted by the Nevis Public Library, came to an official close on Friday 25th August, with the closing ceremony held at the Library.

The theme for this year’s program was: ‘Our country; our people; our future.’

Sub theme: ‘Life enrichment through skills.’

The program was ably chaired by Curtis Morton and included poetry and other input from the participants, including the singing of the national anthem and the singing of the Library song, which was composed by Curtis Morton.

Assistant Principal Education officer, Ms. Londa Browne, in presenting brief remarks, surprised everyone when she indicated that she herself is a product of the library program, from way back when.

Head Librarian, Mrs. Anatasia Parris-Morton, gave a comprehensive overview of the two-week program and highlighted some of the skills that the children were taught this year.

These included money management and understanding the amount of change due after transactions at for example a supermarket; the sewing on of buttons and table manners.

Branch Manager of the National Caribbean Insurance Company, one of the main sponsors of the program, Mrs. Hazel Manners-David, assisted with the presentation of certificates to the children.
