The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force advises the public of the following traffic arrangements in Basseterre on Friday, September 18th, 2026:
🎪 PATRIOTIC DAY STREET FAIR
📍 Fort Street — from The Circus to the vicinity of Domino’s
🕦 11:30 AM to 11:30 PM�
Fort Street will be closed to vehicular traffic to accommodate vendors and the Independence Concert at The Circus. Motorists are advised that traffic will be permitted to flow from Church Street onto Central Street as an alternate route through the town.�
🥁 INDEPENDENCE 43 CULTURAL PARADE
🕓 4:30 PM to ~6:30 PM
The parade will proceed along the following route:
Westbourne Ghaut → Cayon Street → West Independence Square → Bay Road → College Street Ghaut → Cayon Street → Church Street → Liverpool Row → The Circus
The parade will conclude at The Circus, where participants will officially open the Independence Concert.
⚠️ Vehicular access onto Fort Street from Bay Road will be restricted from 6 PM on Thursday, September 17th to facilitate the setup of vendor booths and infrastructure for the Street Fair.
Motorists are asked to plan their travel accordingly, use alternative routes where available, and cooperate with officers on duty throughout these activities.
