In observance of the 201st Anniversary of Cottle Church, Nevis, there will be a quilt installation by Cyle Warner entitled, Congregation,
starting at 1 pm on May 3, 2025, at the Church site in Nevis.
Built in 1824, Cottle Church was one of the first integrated Anglican churches in the Caribbean that brought enslaved Africans and plantation owners together in worship.
Thirteen sand-covered quilts will transform this historic church ruin into a living memorial. Using island materials, family fabrics, and time itself, Warner unearths buried histories and honours ancestral presence through erosion, craft, and place.
Supported by Foundation for Contemporary Arts.
All are invited.
