The Hardtimes playing field was the venue for an exciting warm up match hosted by the Rawlins team, which will be participating in the upcoming tape ball tournament.
The tournament which will be hosted by the Sports Department, is set to bowl off at the ET Willet Park, this coming Sunday-7th October.
The Rawlins team which will also be comprised of some players from the Easterns team, held a trial match, as preparation for the tournament.
The Carlon Smithen X1 batted first and scored 103 for 5 in the 12 allotted overs and the West led X1 in response, was bowled out for a meager 19 runs, thanks mainly to a hostile spell of bowling from Carlon Smithen.
The West team promised much, when Skipper West himself, heaved the first ball bouncer from Smithen, spectacularly over square leg for a huge maximum but the very next ball, he tried to repeat the shot and holed out to the man at short midwicket.
Thereafter, the slide was as spectacular as the first ball six, as the funeral procession from pavilion to crease and back, was the order of the afternoon.
The upcoming tournament will feature seven teams: Rawlins; All Stars; Highlights; Empire; GT United; Calypso and SDA Jets.
Two matches will be played on Wednesdays, starting at 4.30 pm with the second game starting at 5.45 pm; Saturdays, with the first game starting at 5 pm and second game at 6.45 pm and Sundays, with the first game starting at 4pm and the second game at 6 pm.
The matches will be of 10 overs per side duration.
The winning team will receive $1,000.00
Second placed team $700.00
Third placed team $ 500.00
Matches scheduled for Sunday 7th October:
