RCMP Officials Pay Courtesy Call on The RSSTO Bolster Canada-Caribbean Relations

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: The management of the Regional Security System (RSS) welcomed a courtesy visit from officials of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on Wednesday, January 22. During the meeting, RCMP Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Brian Moreau, along with Liaison Officer and Program Manager, Hugo Boilard, engaged with RSS Executive Director Rear Admiral Errington Shurland and his team to discuss various security-related matters.

The discussions centred on strategies to enhance the RSS’s capacity to protect the citizens of its eight Member States, as well as opportunities for increased collaboration with Canada through the RCMP. Rhea Reid-Bowen, Director of Strategic Services and International Affairs, accompanied by Kisha Sutherland, Director of the Asset Recovery Unit, Brian Roberts, Director of Training, and Rolerick Sobers, Regional Maritime Officer, provided an overview of the organization’s activities and roles. They also highlighted upcoming initiatives and projects aimed at reinforcing regional security.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by Rear Admiral Shurland on behalf of the RSS and Mr. Moreau for the RCMP. This MOU aims to strengthen the relationship between the two entities and builds on Canada’s longstanding support for the RSS, which extends across various Canadian government departments. The signing ceremony underscores the shared commitment of Canada and the Regional Security System to enhance regional security, contributing to a more prosperous and peaceful hemisphere for all.
