Report of Arrest, Convictions and Other Activities

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 06, 2016 (RSCNPF): Below is a report of Arrest and or Convictions from the records of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for period 04-05 April 2016.

ARRESTS/BAILED:
Arrested and Bailed: Lakiesha Harrigan of Conaree was formally arrested, charged and cautioned for the offence of Larceny. She was issued with a copy of her charge which she accepted and made no further statement. She was subsequently granted bail in the sum of $2000.00 and ordered to appear at Charlestown Magistrate Court on Tuesday April 12, 2016 at 09:00 hrs in the forenoon.

Bailed: A Juvenile arrested and charged for incidents reported in the Hamilton area Nevis was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 E.C.C. The condition of the bail for the defendant is a curfew between the hours of 7 pm and 6 am.

Bailed: Careem Bradshaw of Farm Site Sandy Point was granted bail by in the sum of $5,000.00 and ordered to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday, May 9, 2016. He was was arrested, charged and formally cautioned on a warrant in the first instance for the offence of Malicious Damage which occurred on March 27, 16 at Anchorage Road Frigate Bay.

COURT CONVICTION:
In matters at the Charlestown High Court presided over by Madame Justice Lorraine Williams, in the case D.P.P vs Shane Shorter who charged with the offences of Attempted Murder, Wounding with intent and Burglary. Shane Shorter pleaded Not Guilty to the offence of Attempted Murder, Guilty to the offence of Wounding with intent and Guilty to the offence of Burglary. The Crown accepted the plea and the judge ordered a social inquiry to be done by the April 19, 2016.

The following is a summary of convictions from the Charlestown Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour Ms. Yasmine Clarke.

– Tameka Periera and Allan Nisbett both of Marian Avenue were convicted and fined $1000. 00 each or in default six (6) months imprisonment for the offence of Larceny.

– Malvern Walwyn of Rawlins Village , Gingerland was convicted and sentence to 2 years imprisonment for the offence of Larceny.

– Kevin Boone of Charlestown was convicted and fined $1000.00 to be paid in 3 months or serve 6 months imprisonment for the offence of Driving without License, a fine of $ 1000.00 to be paid in 3 months or serve 6 months imprisonment if in default for the offence of Driving without insurance and a fine of $1000.00 in (6) six months or in default serve 6 months imprisonment for Taking the vehicle without consent of the owner.

– Jack Cornelius of Prospect was convicted and fined $500.00 in 3 months in default 1 month imprisonment for the offence of Driving without insurance and $500.00 in 3 months in default 1
month imprisonment for the offence of Driving without due care and attention.

OTHER ACTIVITY:
Rape:- A resident of Phillips Village reported that she was raped at home by a person known to her. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Shooting at with intent:- Officer’s of the Basseterre Police Station are investigation an incident of shots fired in the vicinity of a construction site in the Shadwell area. No one was injured, the incident occurred about 11.35 on Tuesday, April 05, and the investigation continues.

Combined Search Operation: Men of C.I.D, the Customs K9 Unit, SKNDF and the Crime Scene Unit conducted a search on two (2) acres of grassland and a Ghaut searching from Shadwell West to Shadwell East. A number of construction tools suspected to be stolen, one hundred and three (103) cannabis plants ranging from one (1) foot to six (6) feet in height and a total of fifty-five rounds of ammunition were found, (thirty-one (31) .40 mm and twenty-four (24) .44 mm. The said items were seized by the Police. The search was conducted from 12noon to 2pm on April 05.

Police continues efforts to prevent criminal activity in the Federation with increased presence in the community. Police continue these efforts through Vehicular Check Points, Stop and Searches and searches of abandoned properties. The check points and searches are done in efforts to ensure Citizen Safety, by removing any found Illegal Firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs, and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes
