Report of Arrests, Convictions and Other Activities

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 27 2017 (RSCNPF): Below is a report of Arrests, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period March 20 – 26, 2017.

ARREST AND BAIL:
Arrested: Evron Williams of Farm Site, Sandy Point was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Arrested: Ziron Battice of West Street, Newtown was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of inflicting Grievous Bodily Harm.

Arrested: Bernel Doyling of Saddlers lower Housing Project was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for cultivation, possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Arrested: Omari Buchanan of La Guerite was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply

Arrested: Dione Paul of upper Cayon was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Possession of Cannabis committed on the March 26th 2017.

Arrested/Bailed: Jermaine Rawlins of Buckley’s Estate was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and cultivation of cannabis committed on March 19th 2017 in Shadwell. He was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 ECD for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 8th May, 2017.

Arrested/Bailed: Shakimbal McSheen of Buckley’s Estate was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and cultivation of cannabis committed on March 19th 2017 in Shadwell. He was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 ECD for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 8th May, 2017.

Arrested/Bailed: Kevin Phillip of Buckley’s Estate was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and cultivation of cannabis committed on March 19th 2017 in Shadwell. He was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 8th May, 2017.

Arrested/Bailed: Fostrona Paul of James Avenue, St Paul’s was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply. She was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for her appearance at the Basseterre magistrate Court on Monday, 17th April, 2017.

Arrested/Bailed: Thelson Chumney of Buckley’s Estate for the offences of possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and cultivation of cannabis committed on March 19th 2017 at Shadwell. He was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 ECD for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 8th May, 2017.

Arrested: Shamac Howe of Farm Housing Project was arrested formally charged and cautioned for the offences of possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply. He was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 ECD for his appearance at the Dieppe Magistrate Court on Monday 3rd April, 2017.

Arrested: Iva Edwards aka Soldier of Stapleton Ext was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the following offences of Being Armed with an Offensive Weapon, Disorderly Conduct by Fighting, Resisting Arrest and Indecent Language. He was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 ECD for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday, 8th May, 2017.

Arrested: Trevern Edwards of Stapleton Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Disorderly Conduct by Fighting and Armed with an Offensive Weapon. He was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 ECD for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Money, 8th May, 2017.

Bailed: Preston Phillips of New Road Housing who was formally arrested, charged and cautioned for the offences of Resisting Arrest, Obstruction, Assault and Simple Wounding committed on March 18th 2017, was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 ECD for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on April 3rd 2017.

COURT CONVICTION:
In matters at the Basseterre Magistrate Court presided over by His Honour Mr. Benjamin in the following cases were heard and disposed of:
-Kevin Kelly of St. Paul’s who was charged with the offence of Larceny which was committed between 18th and 19th November at College Housing was heard on March 20th 2017. He was found guilty and sentenced to three (3) years hard labour.

OTHER ACTIVITY:
Search warrants Executed: Police executed a number of Search Warrants during the period of this report. Warrants were executed on properties in the following areas: Upper Monkey Hill, Sandy Point and Parsons Village. Warrants were also executed on properties in the following areas: Farm’s Development- Cleverly Hill- Boukes are all areas located in (Sandy Point), Half Way Tree, New Road Housing, Mansion Project, Godwin Ghaut, Irish Town, Lower Pitcairn Street, Carifesta Village and Boyds Village The warrants were executed in search of illegal firearms and ammunition, illegal drugs, and instruments that can be used in criminal activity.

Marijuana Plants Uprooted: A patrol of officers reported that they discovered, uprooted and seized, two thousand three hundred and fifty seven (2,357) plants suspected to be cannabis which ranged from seedlings to seven (7) feet in height. The plants were found in a number of patches in the grass lands of Milliken Mountain.
(2) A patrol of officers reported that they discovered, uprooted and seized over five thousand (5000) marijuana plants on (Mar 21) ranging from seedling to seven feet in the Milliken Mountain.
(3) A patrol of officers reported that they discovered, uprooted and seized eleven hundred (1100) marijuana plants ranging from seedlings to four (4) feet in height.
(4) Officers discovered, uprooted and seized four thousand four hundred (4,400) marijuana plants. The plants ranged from seedlings to 4ft in height and were found on empty plots of lands in Saddlers.
(5) Officers also discovered another eleven hundred(1100) Marijuana plants which they uprooted and seized in the Half way Tree area.

House Breaking and Larceny: Police is investigating a report of a Housebreaking and Larceny that occurred at about 6:30 am on March 22nd 2017, in Taylors Village. The V/C reported that he secured his house and at about 12:20 pm he received a call from a friend saying his house was broken into. Upon entry, the V/C returned he observed his 42 inches Sony television was taken off the wall. Investigations are ongoing.

Building Breaking and Larceny: Police responded to a number of Building Breakings and Larceny that occurred in the following areas: Carifesta Village (St. Peters), South East Peninsula and Durant Avenue. All incidents are being investigated.

Abandoned Properties Searches: Police continues to execute searches of abandoned properties; most recent searches were done in the following areas: Green lands, Nevis Street, East Street (Newtown), Molyneaux and Conaree. These searches were done over the period of this report.

Citizen Safety: Police continue to conduct Vehicle Check Points, Stop and Searches and searches of Abandoned properties and Lots. The proactive actions are being taking in efforts to remove illegal firearms, ammunitions, illegal drugs and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes from our communities. So far in 2017, seven (8) illegal firearms have been taken from our communities.

Citizen Engagements: Police continue efforts to build stronger relationships with the communities they serve by conducting a number of community Policing engagements. Over the last days, officers from a number of stations have embarked on increased community walk thru’s engaging citizens and shop owners. Other officers continue to visit Primary and Secondary Schools encouraging students to be good citizens and embrace positive habits.
Noted Crime Reduction Specialist Dr. Neals Chitan continues to engage various stakeholders in dialogue regarding crime prevention, reduction and rehabilitation. He is currently planning anti-violence rallies with students on both St. Kitts and Nevis to spread the message “Stop N Think.”
