Rodney Baptiste of St. Kitts has been sentenced for the offence of causing death by careless driving, which occurred on 15 February 2019.
On 27 February 2026, at the Basseterre High Court, presided over by His Lordship Justice Patrick Thompson Jr., Mr Baptiste’s sentence was handed down as follows:
One (1) year suspended sentence for two (2) years
Compensation of sixty thousand dollars (XCD $60,000), payable in instalments:
Twenty-five thousand dollars (XCD $25,000) by 30 April 2026
Twenty-five thousand dollars (XCD $25,000) by 31 August 2026
Ten thousand dollars (XCD $10,000) by 30 September 2026
The suspended sentence will be activated if Mr. Baptiste is convicted of any further driving-related offences during the two-year suspension period.
