The Nevis Athletic Stadium came alive on Sunday, 26 July, as athletes from across the region competed in the A1 Invitational Track Meet, delivering an afternoon of exciting competition and impressive performances.
Clubs from Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, and host island Nevis assembled for the meet, creating a highly competitive atmosphere across a full programme of events.
Athletes showcased their speed, endurance, and determination in the 100m, 150m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,200m, and 1,500m races, as well as the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
One of the day’s most anticipated contests featured CARIFTA Games gold medallist Nahjah Wyatte of St. Maarten and CARIFTA Games bronze medallist Kymarni Newton of Nevis. The highly anticipated showdown lived up to expectations, with Wyatte crossing the finish line first to claim the victory.
At the conclusion of the meet, Roots Track Club of Antigua and Barbuda emerged as the overall champions with 323 points.
Full Stride Track Club secured second place with 268 points, while Over the Top Track Club finished third with 200 points.
The A1 Invitational once again demonstrated the depth of athletic talent across the region and provided competitors with valuable race experience as they continue preparations for upcoming competitions.
