Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 31, 2015 (SKNIS): Samuel Weymouth Tapley Seaton C.V.O, Q.C., J.P. who had been serving as Acting Governor General since May 14, 2015 has been appointed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second as Governor General of St. Christopher and Nevis with effect from September 01, 2015.
This is according to a press release from the Office of the Prime Minister which revealed that His Excellency Seaton took the relevant oaths today (September 02) as administered by Her Ladyship Justice Marlene Carter at Government House. The Governor General was appointed on the advice of St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris.
The brief ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Harris, Attorney General Honourable Vincent Byron, Minister of State Senator Wendy Phipps, Cabinet Secretary Josephine Huggins, Marguerite Foreman, sister of the Governor General, Registrar of the High Court Janine Harris-Lake and staff in the Office of the Governor General.
His Excellency S. W. Tapley Seaton is the fourth Governor General of St. Kitts and Nevis, following a succession line of Sir Clement Arrindell, Sir Cuthbert Sebastian and Sir Edmund Lawrence.
