“Safeguarding St. Kitts and Nevis Intangible Cultural Heritage Now and For Future Generations”

A UNESCO consultant, Nigel Encalada, will facilitate a meeting on “Safeguarding St. Kitts and Nevi Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH)” scheduled to be held on Tuesday, April 10, at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church Conference Centre from 1.30 p.m to 4.00 p.m.

St. Kitts and Nevis is about to embark on a joint initiative to safeguard its Intangible Cultural Heritage(ICH) with support from United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural Organization(UNESCO) and its

Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Fund. The Research and Documentation Unit(RDU) – St Kitts Department of Culture (SKDOC) is collaborating with Nevis Historical and Conservation Society(NHCS), the Nevis Cultural Development Foundation (NCDF) and relevant stakeholders, on a national project to research, and identify the types of ICH that exist in St. Kitts and Nevis.

This initiative is being undertaken with support from Antonio Maynard, Secretary General – UNESCO National Commission (NATCO). Representatives from government departments, NGOs, public and private organisations, traditions bearers, and community stakeholders are encouraged to participate.
