SCASPA collects data on passenger movements leaving St. Kitts’ ferry terminal for Nevis, averages 10,000 monthly

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, AUGUST 13TH 2014 (CUOPM) – The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) is reporting over 65,000 passenger movements to Nevis departing from the main ferry terminal in Basseterre in the first six months of this year.

According to the SCASPA’s Statistics Division, some 65,522 persons departed the ferry terminal, with 13,991 in January.

There were 9,944 passenger movements in February 2014, 11,229 in March 2014, compared to 10,248 passengers in March 2013, up one percent; 9,679 in April, compared to 9,800 in 2013, down one percent; 10,189 in March compared to 9,781 in the same month last year, an increase of 4 percent.

A two percent increase in ferry passenger movement to Nevis was also recorded in June this year, with 10,720 passengers compared to 10,561 in June 2013.

There were 41,817 passenger movements between March and June this year, compared to 41,390 during the same period in 2013.
