Second Bi-Annual Conference on SDG’s coming to Nevis

Charlestown-Nevis-On Monday 18th March, Minister of Health, Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams and Minister responsible for Sustainable Development in the Nevis Island Administration, Hon. Eric Evelyn, combined to inform the general public, of a very important conference that will be hosted in Nevis, next week.
Minister Brandy-Williams informed that the second bi-annual conference on the Sustainable Development goals (SDG’S), will be held at the prestigious Four Seasons Resort from Wednesday 27th March to Friday 29th March. The participants from the OECS will be housed at the Mount Nevis Hotel.
The conference will be hosted in collaboration with the following entities: The NIA; UNPF (the United Nations Population Fund) and ParlAmericas-an organization out of Canada.
The three days will be sub divided as follows:
Day one: Ministerial forum, during which Ministers of Health, Gender Affairs and Sustainable Development throughout the OECS, will meet to discuss such issues as dealing with non-communicable diseases and coming up with creative ways to finance health related projects.

Day two will feature the Technocrats who will discuss technical issues.
Day three-open discussion with members of the civil society and issues such as how the media can assist in the fight against NCD’S, will be addressed.

Hon. Evelyn for his part, noted that although the Ministry of Health will lead out in directing the conference, his Ministry will offer full support and he opined that the island should strive to host more conferences of this nature.
He stated that St. Kitts and Nevis is well ahead of many other countries in the effort to attain the SDG’S and wished the conference well.
