Security Forces Conducted Joint Operation; Operation Break Of Dawn

On Wednesday 17 June 2015 in the early hours of the morning, members of the Security Forces conducted a Walk-Through /Foot Patrol Operation in Basseterre which covered the areas of Mc Knight through Ponds Extension.

Thirty  persons were stopped and searched on suspicion of possession of Controlled Drugs, Arms and Ammunition’s, thirty Six abandon houses, and Fifteen  Vehicles were stopped and searched.

The searches resulted in two  pairs of gloves, two  masks, a small quantity of Cannabis, four  dime bags containing cannabis seed, thirty Five cannabis plants ranging from seedlings to Seven feet in height, one  camouflage shirt, one  bike frame and parts suspected to be stolen or unlawfully obtained, and one  pant suspected to be used in the commission of a crime were found and taken into Police custody.

No arrests were made, however, there were many residents who welcomed the presence of the police and the actions taken, and whereas there were also some who rejected the presence of the police.

The High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force therefore takes this opportunity to inform the nationals, residents and visitors of the Federation that every effort will be made to ensure there safety and security. Also, the support and assistance of all is necessary and important in order to accomplish this task.
