Charlestown, Nevis – Another year and another exciting month of activities has been planned for the senior citizens living on Nevis.
Coordinator of the Seniors’ Division, within the Social Services Department, Miss Trudy Prentice, indicated recently that the intention is to ensure that the seniors are treated to events that are exciting and to their liking. As a matter of fact, many of the activities planned for the month originated from suggestions made by the seniors at their planning meeting session held early in the year.
Miss Prentice is inviting the general public to participate fully in the activities that will not be exclusive to the seniors and promised that this year’s celebratory month of October, will be one to be remembered.
The full slate of activities is as follows:
Sunday, September 29 – Church service at the New Testament Church in Jessups at 9 am
Tuesday, October 1 – Address by Minister of Community Development, Hon. Eric Evelyn
Wednesday, October 2 – Outreach in St. George’s Parish
Friday, October 4 – Health fair at the Memorial square
Monday, October 7 – Seniors lead out in Morning inspiration on VON radio
Tuesday, October 8 – Health walk featuring seniors and others from the bottom of Zion to the St. James’ raceway (Drag Strip)
Wednesday, October 9 – Outreach in St. James’ Parish
Friday, October 11 – Fun and action day 10 am at the ET Willet Park
Monday, October 14 – Intergenerational exchange St. Thomas’ Primary School
Tuesday, October 15 – Deadline for submissions in seniors’ essay competition
Wednesday, October 16 – Outreach in St. Paul’s Parish
Thursday, October 17 – Visit to SKB movies
Sunday, October 20 – Start of Flambuoyant Seniors’ home week of activities
Monday, October 21 – Seniors lead in morning inspiration on VON radio
Tuesday, October 22 – Celebration of seniors and special donation
Wednesday, October 23 – Outreach in St. Thomas’ Parish
