Seven matters slated for November 2014 Criminal Assizes

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Criminal Assizes in the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, High Court of Justice on Nevis is scheduled to commence on Monday, November 10, 2014 before Her Ladyship Justice Lorraine Williams.

Six (6) new matters are slated to be heard for this November Assizes. These matters involve one (1) armed robbery; two (2) counts of unlawful carnal knowledge; one (1) rape; one (1) larceny and one (1) murder. There is one matter traversed from the April Assizes. That matter involves Geoffery Romany. He was charged with fraudulent conversion and money laundering.

The only murder case which is listed to be heard involves Asim Parris, Dexter Somersall and Craig Halliday. The trio is incarcerated for the 2008 murder of Leon ‘Gravo’ Westerman of Low Street, Charlestown.

The lone armed robbery case involves Saleam Chiverton of Pond Hill. He is accused of robbing former West Indies youth cricketer, Nelson Boland at gun point of $90.00 E.C. and one (1) gold chain with pendant valued at $10, 000.00 E.C. on April 4, 2013 at Clay Ghaut.

The larceny matter involves Jermie Jeffers.

The Nevis High Court which is situated on Prince William Street, Charlestown is currently under construction but court officials have assured this media house that the renovations would be completed in time for the November Assizes.

The Public Works Department is currently doing renovations to the Nevis High Court. Island Molding Ltd. is building the furniture to ensure an upscale, comfortable and relaxing court house.
