Sexual matter to begin Nevis Criminal Assizes

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- A Gingerland resident who was charged with three sexual offenses will have his day in court today Tuesday, December 03, 2013 at the High Court in Charlestown.

The accused on trial was charged with rape, unlawful carnal knowledge and buggery to which he pleaded not guilty to in court yesterday, Monday, December 2, 2013.

The defendant is allegedly accused of committing all three acts on February 19, 2013 to a minor under the age of 16. He is being represented by Dr. Henry Browne, QC and Attorney John Cato.

Also standing in the docket yesterday answering to accusations before His Lordship Justice Albert Redhead was Geoffery Romany.

Romany is charged with fraudulent conversion and money laundering. It is said that between April 2, 2008 and April 10, 2012 Romany received over one hundred thousand US dollars belonging to Victor Garden and allegedly used the money for his own personal use.

He too pleaded not guilty to the charges. The accused is being represented by Dr. Henry Browne.

The traversed matter involving Kimron Lawrence and Orlando Hylton is schedule to begin on Monday, December 9, 2013. Attorney Chesley Hamilton will represent Lawrence while Dr. Browne will represent Hylton.

Lawrence is currently on bail. His alleged partner was also granted bail but because of his Jamaican nationality he was unable to gain two sureties.

A new matter which also involves sexual offenses to a minor will commence later in the assizes. That accused is being represented by Attorney Ricaldo Caines.

Director of Public Prosecution, Travers Sinanan along with Attorneys Rhonda Nisbett- Browne and Oneil Simpson will have to prove these cases to the jurors.
