Sir Garry – Cricketers Should Entertain

WICB Media Release

LONDON, England (WICB) — Former West Indies captain, all-rounder and legend of the game Sir Garry Sobers tells us that in his view, once you are on the field of play, you have a duty to entertain those who have paid to come in.

He says that without people coming through the turnstiles and paying their money, there is no game, and players must entertain.

It is a view that players such as Kevin Pietersen and Virender Sehwag would almost certainly approve of, not to mention Sobers’ successors as West Indies captain, Brian Lara and Chris Gayle.

Sobers knew a thing or two about entertaining himself after a career which saw him develop a reputation as a world-class all-rounder whose versatility and skill in so many fields has been unmatched since.

This exclusive interview gives an insight into just how he approached the game during his remarkable career, in which he scored more than 30,100 runs and took 1,152 wickets as well as 446 catches.
