The Department of Gender Affairs – Nevis has successfully launched the first cohort of its Girls Mentorship Program, SLAY: Sisters Leading Ambitious Youths, marking a significant step in empowering young women across the island.

The program officially began on May 19, 2025, bringing together eight bright, confident, and ambitious young ladies, each paired with an inspiring female mentor from the Nevisian community. Through these mentorship relationships, the initiative aims to foster meaningful connections that build self-confidence, encourage leadership, and empower participants to rise, lead, and positively influence their communities.

The SLAY program is designed to support the personal and leadership development of young women by providing guidance, encouragement, and real-world examples of success. Organisers expressed optimism that the partnerships formed will have a lasting impact on the participants and contribute to the development of future female leaders in Nevis.

Special thanks were extended to Charlestown Secondary School, Honourable Jahnel Nisbett, the staff of the Department of Gender Affairs – Nevis, the Board of Directors, dedicated mentors, and supportive parents for their unwavering commitment to shaping the next generation of empowered young women in Nevis.
