Six Bills down for debate at next Tuesday’s National Assembly meeting

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 22ND 2013 (CUOPM) – Six Bills will be debated when the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly meets on Tuesday 26th November 2013.

Minister of Health, Social Services, Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, the Hon. Marcella Liburd will introduce and have a read a first time the Child Justice Bill, 2013 which seeks to establish a judicial process for children accused of committing offences that aims at protecting the rights of children and other related matters.

She will also pilot through The Children (Care and Adoption) Bill, 2013 which provides for the care and protection of children, operation of adoption services and other related matters.

The Probation and Child Welfare Board (Amendment), Bill, 2013, also in the name of Minister Liburd, amends the Act in several areas.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security, Labour, Justice and Legal Affairs, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett, will introduce, have read a first time and lead off the debate on The Bail (Amendment) Bill, 2013 and The Jury Bill, 2013.

Attorney General the Hon. Jason Hamilton will pilot through the lawmaking body The Status of Children (Amendment) Bill, 2013.
